Kent Street Early Learning Centre

Every day is an opportunity for discovery and growth at Kent Street Early Learning Centre, which is rated exceeding in the National Quality Standard. With a range of exciting, resource-rich environments including herb and vegetable gardens, natural resources, a sandpit, and a range of age-specific ateliers, children are encouraged to explore and learn.

Children get out and about on regular excursions into the Sydney CBD, so we have a great connection with the surrounding community. Popular locations include the aquarium, wildlife park and local stores and cafes in the area.

With a community-minded team of Educators who have been with the centre for a long time, we are proud to have a culturally diverse team and celebrate a variety of cultures and holidays throughout the year.

Our on-site cook prepares five nutritionally balanced meals using seasonal ingredients every day. The children and Educators often collect herbs and vegetables from the centre’s gardens to add to the daily meals and use in cooking classes.

Our Educators

Our team of Educators are committed and passionate about ensuring your child will be safe, nurtured and cared for every day. At Guardian, children are encouraged to engage in interest-led play that creates learning and meaningful experiences.

Our Educators seek to optimise diverse learning opportunities and implement the Curriculum as framed by the Early Years Learning Framework.

You and Your Child

All Guardian Centres provide a Centre-to-Family communication platform so families can maintain contact with their children’s experiences through photos, stories and learning outcomes.

Our Centres use Storypark and each family is provided with a secure login to access on their computers, mobiles or apps.

Learn More About Our Centre

Kent Street Early Learning Centre extends over two floors, boasting views of Barangaroo, Sussex Street, Kent Street and the surrounding city. We provide a welcoming atmosphere for the children, with the warmth and comfort of home.

The ground floor has a lovely outdoor space where the children enjoy playing in the sandpit and tending to our trees and herbs. They also love looking through the windows at the daily commotion of the city. The first floor is flooded with natural light due to the floor to ceiling windows and skylights. In the outdoor space, children enjoy water play and caring for the edible garden.

At our centre children are viewed as capable individuals, and we believe in exposing them to experiences that challenge them in a controlled environment. Our routine is flexible, which means we can cater to each child’s unique needs and interests. Children are also free to choose from our abundant collection of resources and materials in different play spaces.

We believe that children of different ages playing together has mutual benefits. For older children it’s an opportunity to be a proud role model, and for the younger children it’s a chance to develop skills like self-feeding and appropriate social play. It also means brothers and sisters can interact throughout the day.

Our open door policy means families are welcome to visit any time, and we can also call or email you during the day with an update. Two-way communication with families is critical and so we connect with them in a variety of ways, such as our regular newsletter that highlights the fun and learning we experienced that week.

Our experienced chef prepares an array of healthy and delicious meals from scratch each day. The children love trying new dishes, and discovering different textures and flavours. We even attach recipes to our weekly newsletter as they are in such high demand! Breakfast is provided daily for our families at 7.30am, which is a great time to chat to our educators and meet other families.
