REAIE 2017 and the Official Opening of our Barangaroo Centre

2nd August 2017

REAIE 2017 Guardian Barangaroo opening

Earlier this month, the Reggio Emilia Australia Information Exchange (REAIE) ‘Landscapes of Identity’ Conference was held in Sydney. As a sponsor of this conference Guardian held an exclusive event to celebrate the official opening of Guardian Early Learning Centre – Barangaroo.

This special event on Friday 14th July was attended by REAIE conference delegates, corporate contacts, key partners in education, early education, and recruitment, Barangaroo team members, a number of Guardian educators from across NSW and our support staff. Guests spread out across the beautiful new centre taking in the various aspects of the environment from the manmade hills to the reading nook, to the wooden walkways and open plan spaces.

It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the future of Guardian and to our commitment to being thought leaders in the early education and childcare sectors. Through this event we were also able to strengthen our relationships with the REAIE and our partners as well as demonstrating the benefits of a career with Guardian to educational professionals and trainees.

Aunty Norma Ingram of the Wiradjuri people delivers the Acknowledgement to Country.

To recognise the traditional owners of the land and to further tie into the theme of ‘Landscapes of Identity’, we were privileged to welcome Aunty Norma Ingram of the Wiradjuri people who delivered the Acknowledgement of Country. We also welcomed Indigiearth who shared a couple of traditional Aboriginal dance performances and stories to educate the audience on rituals of Aboriginal culture that are thousands of years old.

Another tie in with the ‘Landscapes of Identity’ theme was the delicious and thoughtful food served on the evening. Guests were treated to sustainably sourced seafood in honour of Barangaroo being a central source of seafood to the Aboriginal people who lived in the area. As guests left the event, they were presented with a beautifully designed box of chocolates from Oh!Boo, an artisanal chocolate store located at Barangaroo, that were infused with flavours from the Australian bush. By working with Indigiearth on the flavours and design of the chocolates, Oh!Boo developed a stronger understanding of the ingredients found in Australia’s landscape and were able to translate them into meaningful take home gifts.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at this wonderful event and to those who attended the REAIE 2017. We are looking forward to the REAIE conference in 2018!
