Meet the Long-standing Members of the Playdays Kellyville Team
1st June 2017
Playdays Kellyville is an early learning centre in Sydney that prides itself on its wonderful educators. Many of the team members have been at the centre for a number of years creating a solid and reliable team with strong bonds and connections to each other and the service’s families.
Centre Manager, Cassandra Miller gives us a personal insight into Playdays Kellyville.
Playdays Kellyville has been established for many years and is nestled within an area of homes and conveniently located next to the local public school. This wonderful location aids in a partnership with the school which enhances our transition to school program for children moving into the next stage of their lives. Many families have children at both the local Public School and our Centre so our partnership supports families that attend both education levels.
Kellyville North finally found our home three years ago with Guardian Early Learning Group. We are proudly a Guardian Curriculum Centre which practises a Reggio-inspired approach within our community, local and beyond.
Educators at Kellyville North are guided by the belief that:
- Children are global citizens with rights
- Children are intuitive and skilful researchers
- Children’s curiosity is ignited by environments
- Children communicate their theories and express themselves in multiple ways
- Children’s thinking and learning is inspired through visible documentation
Meet our long-standing educators
Our Centre has a very experienced management team which supports children, families and educators. I personally have over 20 years’ experience in the industry teaching and managing early childhood Centres. With a Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood and a Diploma in Management, I have also been an avid follower of the Reggio approach for many years. This year I was lucky enough to be sponsored by Guardian to visit Reggio Emilia in Italy and attend lectures and a study tour of the Early Childhood School in the region. From this, I have returned with greater knowledge that is being shared with the educators in the Centre to further support their professional development.
This month, our Educational Leader Amy McCoy was awarded with Guardian’s monthly employee award which is nominated by peers. Our educators were glad to see Amy win the award as it was well deserved. She has been with the Centre now for three years and has a Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood with experience working across all ages. Amy oversees the program and supports educators in providing meaningful and engaging experiences for children. She works as a mentor in each classroom across the week which allows her to be actively involved in the program development and implementation while working with all children and supporting all educators.
Out and About Program
Recently, Kellyville North has adopted Guardian’s Out And About Program. This program extends children’s learning opportunities by taking them into the local community on regular excursions. We have a fantastic 8-seater pram that assists our younger learners to be involved in similar outings. Our excursions are relevant to the programs we have running at the time and become extensions of what the children are working on in their classroom.
