Guardian’s Brand New King Street Centre Set to Open in Early 2018

17th July 2017

Guardian early learning centre - King Street

An exciting addition to Guardian Early Learning Group, our King Street site will be opening in early 2018 as part of stage three of the 15 year, $2.9 billion urban regeneration project at Brisbane Showgrounds. According to Andrew Hay, Project Director for the Brisbane Showgrounds, the centre is an important addition to King Street and is an essential element for those working or living in or around the area.

“This sort of amenity is essential for people working and living in city environments, creating convenience and improving quality of life,” he notes.

The 2,000 square metre, three level, architecturally designed centre will boast fantastic nature-inspired indoor and outdoor environments. According to Nicki Garrett, Head of Business Development here at Guardian, “Guardian Early Learning – King Street will offer a design inspired by the history of the Showgrounds with a focus on sustainable practices by increasing natural light, promoting interaction with natural materials and plants wherever possible as well as two large outdoor learning environments.”

Alongside the natural aspects of the centre, children will also be able to interact with the on-site cook, as they prepare the day’s five healthy and nutritious meals in the open plan commercial grade kitchen, allowing children to cultivate a healthy relationship with food, socialise, and develop their palate.

The team of skilled and passionate educators will work alongside children to create high quality learning experiences and will follow the Guardian Curriculum, which is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach and Boulder Journey School. To further support children’s learning journeys, there’ll also be a range of nature-inspired loose parts materials to inspire and challenge children of all ages.

Getting out into the community is a big part of the day to day life at a Guardian centre and King Street will be no different. Their out and about program will ensure children connect with and become active citizens of the vibrant local community of Brisbane Showgrounds.

We are looking forward to sharing more details about the centre closer to the opening date. Watch this space!
