Culture’s Alive at Acre Woods Gladesville

Acre Woods Gladesville

The warm and welcoming Acre Woods Childcare Gladesville is an enchanting setting for children to explore and discover the world around them, with an emphasis on supporting their individuality and creativity.

Conveniently located near both Victoria Road and Ryde Aquatic Centre in Gladesville, Acre Woods Childcare offers longer hours to suit busy lifestyles. Open from 7am to 7pm, our all-inclusive offering provides everything your child needs during their stay, including breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner.

Our amazing team of professional educators, some who’ve been dedicated to the centre for over five years, are focused on creating a consistency of care and fostering strong relationships with families and the wider community.

We proudly celebrate diversity at our centre. Having educators with different cultural backgrounds means we enrich the language abilities and learning opportunities for the children. We’re able to encourage a sense of belonging by speaking to the children in their own dialects. The incredible repertoire of our educators speak includes: Arabic, Italian, Greek, Tagalog, Thai, Hindi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Bengali, Cantonese, Mandarin and Tamil. With this cultural diversity front of mind, we’re able to facilitate varied, fun and interesting learning experiences tailored to each individual child.

At Acre Woods Childcare Gladesville, we encourage children to initiate their own learning. By giving them opportunities to explore a wide variety of environments, experiences and open-ended resources, they can follow their natural curiosity to discover, think and learn. We have a large, architecturally designed outdoor learning environment that’s partially undercover and open for exploration at all times. The inspiring outside space introduces children to the elements, stimulating their curiosity for nature as well as letting them learn through play.

Our unique excursions allow preschool aged children to interact with the world around them. We go on walks to Monash Oval where they can experience their immediate environment, practice road safety and get involved with games. Recently, we took the preschool children on a Teddy Bears’ Picnic where we made sure to take a moment to reflect before heading out. As the children discussed the importance of road safety and staying together, we thought to ourselves – learning by doing has done its job.

On the way to the picnic, the children observed the passing fauna and flora and commented on the different types of plants. We were so proud of their respectful behaviour throughout the excursion as they followed our directives, showing consideration for others within the group.

In addition to promoting investigation and curiosity, excursions like these provide children with a chance to interact with their community and strengthen friendships. We look forward to providing further opportunities for social and emotional development as we celebrate individuality and creativity.
